One of our jobs at opticians; offices is to clean off patients’ glasses when they come in for repairs or adjustments. Usually the employees just use cleaning spray and wipe them off with a microfiber towel to get the lenses and frame clean, but sometimes there are bigger problems. Every once in a while there is someone who rarely cleans their glasses. The amount of filth, grime and whatever else is on those glasses could be a nightmare for employees. No amount of scrubbing or wiping could lift the pure nastiness from those special kinds of glasses.
Luckily for opticians and their employees, tucked away safely in the lab there are precious ultrasonic cleaner. For extreme cases like the glasses described above, the ultrasonic cleaner is sent from heaven. Instead of workers having to touch the glasses, they just drop them in the water inside the small tank, turn the knob and watch the cleaner do its work. In a couple of minutes they pull the glasses out of the water, dry them off and they are good as new, just like magic.
Though it does seem like magic, ultrasonic cleaners work by a relatively simple process. They use high frequencies to clean, degrease or sterilize objects that are dirty. The cleaners produce vibrations that are caused by ultrasonic sound waves that are made when the machine is turned on. The vibrations create tiny bubbles that clean the hard to reach spots. This is done without harming the surface of the object. Their efficient and safe cleaning method makes them an ideal choice for manufacturers who have a variety of objects that they need cleaned, since they allow for a high level of control and a fingerprint and smudge free result. Similarly, they will continue to be appreciated by opticians everywhere.
