Maintaining Your Ultrasonic Cleaner

Taking the proper preventative maintenance measures is a crucial step in keeping things running smoothly, whether it is your car, machinery, or even your health. We maintain our cars by frequently checking the oil level, getting the oil changed, or rotating the tires. Obviously, maintaining your machinery and industrial equipment is just as important, so similar maintenance measures should be taken to ensure the longevity of your manufacturing equipment.

Many manufacturing facilities take advantage of ultrasonic cleaners to enhance and simplify the process of cleaning industrial products. These cleaners operate by creating tiny bubbles in a cleaning solution with vibrations, and these bubbles can reach into small compartments and hard to reach areas in parts for a deep and thorough clean. Like any piece of manufacturing equipment, these cleaners also need to be maintained to preserve cleaning power and efficiency.

Here are a few ways you can keep your cleaner running smoothly:

  • Make sure that the cleaner is filled to its proper level. If you fill the tank too much or not enough, you could cause damage to the equipment. Depending on the size of the tank, your ultrasonic cleaner should be filled until the water level is about 1-2 inches from the top.
  • Regularly clean out the cleaning tank. Allowing contaminants and debris to build up on the bottom of the tank can inhibit the cleaning power of the cleaner, so simply replacing the cleaning solution is not enough. The bottom of the tank should be scrubbed to remove potentially harmful contaminants.
  • Pre-clean parts that are especially dirty. This will reduce the frequency of solution replacement, and will take some stress of off the equipment.
  • Begin running the cleaner about 15 minutes before cleaning any parts. This will allow any trapped air to work its way out of the solution which will increase the equipments’ effectiveness.
  • Place parts in the cleaner a minimum of 1/8 part. Overloading the cleaner will hinder its cleaning power and will shorten the equipments’ lifespan.

By taking these simple maintenance measures, your ultrasonic cleaner will be a reliable and effective component of your manufacturing process for many years!
